PROJECT: WINDMILL TOWER ERECTION IN BHUTAN
CRANE: DEMAG AC 435 170 TON TELESCOPIC CRANE
Komai Haltech, Japan was awarded the first wind power plant project in Bhutan by the Bhutan Power Corporation Limited. The project involved the erection of a tower which required a crane that could lift 20 metric ton (MT) up to height of 45 metres. Thus, Komai Haltech required a 160 Ton crane for this project.
Archer Cranes & Equipment Pvt Ltd (ACEIPL) deployed our Demag AC 435 170 T crane to the site. The crane was deployed from Jamnagar (Gujarat) to the worksite in Bhutan; traversing a distance in excess of 2,000 Kms.
The route wasn’t straightforward and posed many challenges on the way. The crane soldiered on narrow dirt roads with drops of 250 feet just 2 feet away. It labored through bridges with 25 cm clearances on both sides. Despite the challenges, the crane reached the site without any damage.
The client, Komai Haltech, had estimated the total work completion time at around 20 days. The team at Archer along wtih our partners at Crane India, proved their worth by completing the tower erection in just 12 days. Recently, the windmill operation commencement was inaugurated by the Honorable Primer Minister of Bhutan.
